2024 - A Magical Year in Review

As the year draws to a close, we wanted to take a moment to send you our warmest wishes for the Holidays Season! It’s been a year full of exciting developments, growth, and a few moments that felt like something straight out of a holiday tale.

Let’s take a whimsical walk down the year in review:

The Gift of Liquidity: This year, we introduced private equity liquidity through our secondary market platform, offering investors more exit flexibility. In the holiday spirit, we completed three successful secondary transactions across two portfolios, unlocking new opportunities and enhanced liquidity for our investors.

In-Person Gatherings: We brought people together for in-person events discussing key topics like regulatory/legal matters and tax strategies. It was like a holiday feast of knowledge, with everyone going home with something valuable. Watch our Webcasts here.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Analyst: Just as Rudolph guided Santa’s sleigh through the fog, our very own Jack McCay has been our guiding light in the analysis department. We were so impressed, we decided one Jack wasn’t enough. Enter Jack Senior (aka Jack Maynard), proving that two Jacks are indeed better than one. With his extensive leadership experience in the industrials sector, Jack Maynard will play a pivotal role in future opportunities.

Kevin’s Holiday Cheer: In a move that lit up the year like a perfectly decorated Christmas tree, we welcomed Kevin Laleyan as our Operating Partner, focusing on growth. Kevin’s joy at joining PE Gate has been like a kid on Christmas morning – truly priceless!

A Taxing but Merry Milestone & Investment Cheer: In a holiday first, we paid our very first withholding tax, marking a major milestone. Our first investment has now surpassed 150% return of capital, now sitting at 1.4x the invested capital, with a trending +50% IRR. What a gift that keeps on giving!

A New Home for  Events: Donalda Golf Club has become our new home for events, offering a festive setting for building connections. We’re excited to continue celebrating successes and fostering relationships in this beautiful space throughout the year.

The Elf’s Big Mission – Project Fulcrum: Much like the elves working behind the scenes to make Christmas magic, we executed Project Fulcrum, our first co-investment with Quadrivium. This is just the beginning of what we’re hoping will be a long list of successful partnerships.

The Pet Sector – A Growing Christmas List: Just like kids adding more toys to their Christmas lists, we’ve grown our exposure to the pet sector. We are proud to announce that we have won the Top Choice Grooming Award and are currently experiencing a record-breaking month this December across our salons. We’re excited to see how our investment continues to thrive in the new year.

Holidays with RBC and TD: Our relationships with RBC and TD have blossomed like a holiday wreath, and we’ve enjoyed a year full of fruitful discussions with members of their client facing teams. We look forward to deepening these connections in 2025 and beyond.
