Project Furrr

Business Overview
A growing collection of pet care businesses specializing in grooming, daycare, and boarding. The platform began with the acquisition of a regional multi-location grooming chain, followed by the turnaround of a sixth salon that became profitable under PE Gate’s management. Subsequent investments focused on modernization, technology adoption, and system integration to enhance efficiency and scalability. Most recently, the platform expanded through the acquisition of a large boarding and daycare facility. Together, these businesses form a full-service pet care group serving tens of thousands of clients across Ontario—combining recurring revenue, loyal clientele, and real estate–backed operations in a stable and expanding market.
Furrr III — Boarding & Daycare Facility (2025)
Overview: The most recent raise involved acquiring a boarding and daycare business on a multi-acre property in Toronto, featuring the largest privately owned outdoor dog parks in Toronto.
Scale: Capable of serving over 2,000 pets annually, supported by a professional care team and a loyal local client base.
Strategic Focus: Expand the facility with an on-site grooming salon and introduce bundled memberships that combine grooming, boarding, and daycare services.
Impact: Marks the group’s entry into high-demand lodging services, bringing real-estate ownership into the platform and diversifying recurring revenue streams. The acquisition created a new growth vertical and established the framework for future regional rollouts and vertically integrated pet-care campuses across Ontario.
Furrr II — Platform Revamp & Integration (2024)
Overview: The second raise focused on transforming the platform’s technology, retail, and leadership infrastructure to support long-term scalability. It funded a complete overhaul of the booking system and point of sale, integration of client communication tools, a full retail relaunch, and in-store refreshes. A new General Manager was also hired to strengthen leadership and execution across all salons.
Scale: Expanded operational capacity across six salons with a more structured, data driven management approach.
Strategic Focus: Replaced legacy systems with an integrated booking and POS stack, enabled Google Book Now, automated reminders, and two-way texting, rebuilt the website and brand, standardised pricing, and monthly-close processes. In-store refreshes and the retail relaunch were designed to lift conversion and average ticket.
Impact: Built a cohesive, technology-enabled platform with in-house financial oversight, improving visibility, efficiency, and readiness for continued expansion.
Furrr I — Grooming Chain Acquisition (2023)
Overview: The first investment established the foundation of the platform through the acquisition of a regional multi-location grooming company offering full-service grooming, self-wash stations, and retail accessories. Funds raised under Furrr I were also used to acquire a sixth grooming salon that was loss-making at acquisition but has since been successfully turned around under PE Gate’s management
Scale: Operated six locations and served over 15,000 clients within six months of acquisition.
Strategic Focus: Implemented centralized booking, pricing, and training systems to improve efficiency and brand consistency.
Impact: Created a recurring revenue base, scalable processes, and a strong local brand identity — forming the operational backbone for future acquisitions.
Growth Strategy
Service Integration: Bundle grooming, daycare, and boarding services to maximize customer retention and lifetime value.
Brand Expansion: Develop a unified brand identity across all business lines to build regional recognition and consumer trust.
Operational Efficiency: Leverage shared systems for HR, accounting, and marketing to reduce overhead and improve scalability.
Acquisition Pipeline: Target additional profitable grooming and boarding businesses across Ontario for bolt-on acquisitions.
Real Estate Ownership: Continue pursuing properties with kennel licenses to secure long-term operational stability and asset appreciation.
Investment Overview
This opportunity represents participation in a multi-vertical pet care group, combining grooming, daycare, and boarding operations under one integrated structure. The investment targets a base case IRR of around 30%, driven by synergistic acquisitions, recurring revenue, and real estate-backed expansion.
